Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are the unique properties of the Teflex Woven Connector and its best applications?

The Teflex Woven Connector is made from pure woven PTFE, known for its high resistance to extreme temperatures and chemical reactivity. It can continuously operate at temperatures up to 260°C (500°F) and withstand short-term temperature surges up to 280°C (536°F). This makes it ideal for use in environments with caustic or acidic products across the full pH scale, such as in chemical processing, pharmaceuticals, and other high-temperature applications where material stability and resistance are crucial.

  • How does the construction of the Teflex Woven Connector contribute to its performance?

The connector features a basket weave construction which enhances its structural integrity and flexibility. This construction, combined with a wall thickness of 0.5mm, allows it to maintain good low-temperature flexibility and handle mechanical stresses such as vibration, oscillation, and compression effectively. The weave pattern also contributes to the connector's superior tensile strength, ensuring it remains robust under both physical and thermal stress.

  • What certifications does the Teflex Woven Connector hold, and why are they important for compliance?

The Teflex Woven Connector is compliant with FDA 21 CFR 177.1550 and 178.3297, making it suitable for use in the food and pharmaceutical industries where direct contact with food and sensitive products occurs. It is also 3A certified, indicating it meets sanitary standards necessary for food processing environments. Additionally, it is Atex Certified, meaning it is safe for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, a critical consideration for industries dealing with volatile substances.

  • Can the Teflex Woven Connector be customized to fit specific system requirements?

Yes, the Teflex Woven Connector is highly customizable. It is available in diameters ranging from 100mm to 1,650mm and can be equipped with stainless steel or plastic rings for additional support up to a diameter of 500mm. It can be ordered in lengths ranging from 80mm to 1,500mm in 50mm increments, accommodating a wide range of industrial setups. Options for tool release, tapered ends, and one-ended connectors further enhance its adaptability, allowing for quick and easy installation and maintenance tailored to specific operational needs.
