BFM® weighing bellows

Description:

Designed to minimize resistance transfer on weighing equipment. Made from our super strong but flexible urethane-based Seeflex material.

Documents and Resources:

For in-depth information on the features and installation of Weighing Bellows, refer to our detailed documents and resources.

Our Weighing Bellows are made from our clear ether-based thermoplastic polyurethane alloy Seeflex 040E, making them very strong and flexible, so they won't fracture as a result of constant flexing.

The shape of the Weighing Bellows is ideal for preventing vibration transmission between equipment, minimising any transfer that can affect weighing or scales downstream.

Snap-fit connector and spigot design ensure fast, accurate installation every time the connector is removed and replaced.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the primary purpose of the Weighing Bellows, and where is it typically used?

The Weighing Bellows is specifically designed to minimize resistance and prevent vibration transmission on sensitive weighing equipment such as loss-in-weight feeders and dosing systems. Its flexible structure and shape are ideal for applications where precise measurements are crucial, as it ensures that external forces do not affect the accuracy of scales and other downstream weighing devices.

  • How does the design of the Weighing Bellows enhance its functionality in precise weighing applications?

Made from clear ether-based thermoplastic polyurethane alloy, Seeflex 040E, the Weighing Bellows is both strong and highly flexible, preventing it from fracturing due to constant flexing. The bellows’ shape is engineered to not only reduce vibration transmission but also to prevent residual product buildup, which could otherwise impact the accuracy of measurements. Its snap-fit connector and spigot design allow for fast and accurate installation and replacement, maintaining a reliable connection that enhances the overall stability of the weighing system.

  • What are the key physical properties and compliance certifications of the Weighing Bellows?

The Weighing Bellows features a gloss finish with a wall thickness of approximately 0.9 mm in the base section, with a thinner wall in the formed profile to enhance flexibility without sacrificing strength. It is dust-tight, non-breathable, and can operate in temperatures ranging from -25 to 80°C. The bellows is compliant with FDA 21 CFR 177.1680 & 177.2600 and USDA, and is also 3A certified, making it suitable for use in environments requiring stringent sanitary standards. Additionally, it is EU approved and Atex certified for use in dust explosion hazardous areas, adhering to critical safety and quality regulations.

  • Can the Weighing Bellows be customized for different industrial setups and requirements?

The Weighing Bellows is available in diameters of Ø100mm, Ø150mm, and Ø200mm, with a standard connector length of 80mm. While it does not offer options for SS rings, plastic rings, or tool release mechanisms, its standardized dimensions and robust design make it suitable for a variety of industrial applications where precision is key. Its limited customization options are designed to meet the majority of industry needs while maintaining the highest standards of performance and reliability.
