The Women of Siftex: Redefining Strength in Manufacturing

May 19, 2025

At Siftex Equipment Company, we don’t just manufacture custom flexible connectors — we build careers, confidence, and community. Behind every sewn seam, engineered design, and customer call is a team of dynamic, skilled women who are breaking barriers and driving innovation in an industry historically dominated by men.

We asked the women of Siftex to reflect on their journeys — how they got here, what fuels their passion, and the wisdom they’ve gained along the way. Their stories are not only powerful but a testament to what’s possible when curiosity meets opportunity.

Starting With Curiosity, Growing With Opportunity

Many of the women at Siftex began their careers without prior experience in manufacturing — but what they shared in common was a curiosity for how things work and a willingness to learn.

Camila Angeles, now a Sewing Operations Assistant, found her way by diving into hands-on work. “I didn’t know much about the industry when I started, but I learned by doing. That’s totally okay. You don’t have to know everything right away — just show up, stay curious, and don’t doubt yourself.”

For Gabriela Hernandez, now a Purchasing Coordinator and Bookkeeper, the opportunity to learn transformed into a fulfilling career. “Siftex gave me the chance to grow professionally and personally. Everything in life is possible if we set our minds to it.”

Climbing the Ladder: Growth Through Determination

Several women at Siftex started in entry-level roles and steadily advanced, thanks to mentorship, cross-training, and their own determination.

Danielle, a Customer Service Representative since 2015, started out filing paperwork. “Over time, I moved into customer service, and I really enjoyed the parts of the job that involved helping people and problem solving.” Her advice? “Keep asking questions and advocate for yourself — you don’t need to have everything figured out to succeed.”

Carleen Cunningham began her journey 20 years ago as an inside sales rep. Today, she’s the Director of Sales. “I went from cold calling to leading plant visits and outside training for OEMs and resellers. I’d do it all again. The knowledge and the connections I’ve made are invaluable.”

Pride, Empowerment, and Defying Expectations

For these women, working in manufacturing is more than a job — it’s a statement. It’s about breaking norms, leading by example, and being proud of what they bring to the table.

Marianne Croce, who has moved from receptionist to sales rep over a decade, describes the experience as “empowering.” Her advice is clear: “Don’t be intimidated. Seek out mentors. Be confident in your abilities.”

Isabella Rizzo, a Customer Service Rep with 11 years at Siftex, sees her role as an act of empowerment: “Being a woman in a male-dominated field is a challenge, but my mindset is to ‘fight the patriarchy.’ Your gender shouldn't define your capability — your dedication should.”

Exploring New Perspectives

Lexi Babineau, a Designer and Production Technician, shares the excitement of seeing a project through from start to finish. “Being able to cross-train and improve processes is fulfilling. And working alongside other strong women in this space is incredibly empowering.”

Arianna Rodriguez joined Siftex looking to expand her technical skills, but found a surprising passion in production. “I feel strong and appreciated in a field I never thought I’d enter. The world already doubts us — why should we doubt ourselves?”

Advice for the Next Generation

Across the board, the women of Siftex offered valuable advice for others considering a career in manufacturing:

  • Be curious and keep learning.
  • Advocate for yourself and your growth.
  • Don’t be afraid to enter a field traditionally seen as male-dominated.
  • Lean into your strengths and let your passion guide you.
  • Find fulfillment in contributing to something bigger.

As Laura Angeles, who started by making masks during the pandemic and is now in customer service and sales, puts it: “Your perspective as a woman is valuable and needed. Manufacturing isn’t just about machines — it’s about innovation, problem-solving, and teamwork. Own your role and don’t be afraid to lead.”

A Culture of Support and Strength

At Siftex, we’re proud to be a company where women not only contribute — they lead, innovate, and inspire. From production to purchasing, from customer service to senior sales leadership, these women are redefining what manufacturing looks like.

We thank them for their strength, their voice, and their unwavering commitment to growth — both their own and the company’s. Here’s to the women of Siftex: building better products, stronger teams, and a more inclusive future, one connection at a time.
