BFM® Spigots

Contact Us

Description:

BFM® spigots are stainless steel connection points used to securely mount BFM® flexible connectors to processing equipment or pipework. Precision-engineered to exact dimensions, these fittings create the proper interface for BFM® connectors, ensuring a clean, hygienic, and leak-free connection in powder and bulk material handling systems. By eliminating the variability associated with hose clamp style connections, BFM® spigots allow connectors to snap securely into place while maintaining smooth internal surfaces for improved hygiene and product flow. They are widely used in food processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, chemical handling, and other industries where contamination control and reliable connections are essential.

Standard BFM Spigots

Standard BFM® spigots are welded directly to pipework or equipment to create a permanent connection point for BFM® flexible connectors. Manufactured from stainless steel T316L or T304L, with C22 Hastelloy available in select sizes, they provide precise dimensions for a secure fit. The slightly tapered tail allows easier welding to pipework with minor diameter variations. Sizes are available from Ø100 mm to Ø1650 mm.

Lipped Spigots

BFM® Lipped Spigots are designed for systems that use modular tubing or quick-connect piping. Instead of welding, these spigots feature a 6 mm lip that allows them to clamp directly to compatible piping using quick-release clamps. This enables fast installation and easy system reconfiguration. Manufactured from stainless steel T304L with a hygienic ≤ 0.8 Ra interior finish, they are available in sizes from Ø100 mm to Ø400 mm.

Venting Surge Hopper Spigots

The Venting Surge Hopper Spigot is designed for use with BFM® Venting Surge Hopper Connectors and features an internally welded angled weir plate that improves airflow and product discharge in surge hopper applications. Manufactured from stainless steel T316L or T304L with a custom DIN or ANSI flange, these spigots are typically installed above rotary valves to optimize discharge efficiency. Sizes are available from 200 mm to 350 mm.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a BFM® spigot used for?

A BFM® spigot provides the rigid mounting point for BFM® flexible connectors, allowing them to create a secure, dust-tight seal between processing equipment such as pipes, hoppers, and chutes. The spigot ensures the connector fits precisely and performs reliably in bulk material handling systems.

  • What materials are BFM® spigots made from?

BFM® spigots are typically manufactured from high-quality stainless steel, including T304L and T316L grades. In certain applications requiring enhanced chemical resistance, C22 Hastelloy options are also available.

  • Are BFM® spigots available in different sizes?

Yes. BFM® spigots are available in a wide range of diameters to suit various process systems. Standard sizes are typically offered in 50 mm (2") increments, allowing for precise compatibility with BFM® flexible connectors.

  • What types of BFM® spigots are available?

There are several types of BFM® spigots designed for different installation requirements. These include standard spigots for welded pipe connections, lipped spigots for modular quick-connect piping systems, and venting surge hopper spigots designed to work with venting surge hopper connectors for controlled material flow.
